The kids had the day off school today, so I took the day off from work to be with them. The schools here are always closed on November 15th for opening day of deer hunting season....Being a girl from the "big city" I was shocked to learn about this tradition when we moved here 6 years ago. I was shocked even more to learn that even chicks hunt here....Our receptionist took the day off to hunt with her boyfriend today! I of course give anyone that is going out hunting my famous hex sign (either in front of their face or behind their backs depending how well I know them) hoping that they will come back empty handed.
Jeff isn't a hunter (and that's a good thing because I don't think we would have married if he was!), but he did manage to get a deer the other night with his car. The other day he said that 3 more deer ran out in front of his car and he nearly missed a cow in the road last week. We used to be late for work because of traffic jams, construction and accidents....Now, we're late because of the Amish, farm equipment and cows.....AND I wouldn't want it any other way!
My wish tonight is that all the deer find a safe place to hang out until this season comes to an end. If you see some crazy lady on the road giving a hex sign to cars parked near the woods....That will be me! =)
